The Year That Finally Came

It was a Sunday.  Dad was treating us to a Cubs game.

"We just came from church," he says, all of us having settled into our seats.  Adam makes some crack at him about it, and Dad, in jest, asks the last time he went to church.

Adam hunches his shoulders, leans in a bit, and looks back at Dad, smirking.  He gestures around him.

"I'm at church right now."

It turned out to be a pretty divine season.
